| Description | | On 22nd June 2008 the new Royal Women's Hospital, together with Frances Perry House, opened on the corner of Grattan Street and Flemington Road in Parkville.
The new Women’s provides state-of-the-art facilities for all Victorian women and their newborn babies in a family friendly, environment.
It is be a stand-alone specialist hospital providing services in areas such as gynaecology, obstetrics, neonatal paediatrics, cancer care, menopause and sexual health treatment. Patients will benefit from improved access to critical care facilities with The Royal Melbourne Hospital located adjacent to the new facility.
The contract with Royal Women’s Health Partnership was executed on 11 April 2005 and financial close was reached on 17 June 2005. The contract term is for 25 years (post construction). The contract specifies that the consortium will:
- design, build and finance the new hospital; and
- provide supporting infrastructure services for the facilities, including services such as car parking, security and cleaning.
All health services continue to be publicly operated by the Department of Human Services, through the Royal Women’s Hospital, in accordance with government policy that core services should be provided directly by the government.
